READ Sea you later
Read is a reading light fixture for sailing and motor yachts. It is reminiscent of portholes, with the tilted glass lens emitting soft, glare-free reading light. The light’s two-part aluminium housing allows the light to be rotated 360°, allowing precise alignment of the beam of light. The reading lamp is controlled via a switch beneath the lens. The light can be used as a wall light or can be installed as a wall washer in ceiling panels.
The lamp manufacturers XAL are now producing this light for architectural applications under the name Asmo. As well as Read, three other lights came into being on the basis of our design studies regarding LED-light typologies for interior yacht lighting.

Martin Nievergelt has designed as well a trade fair stand for the company to display its current light collection. The form and function of the display are based on various cross-sections of a ship’s hull and incorporate the client’s wish for lights to be installed in the ceiling panels. Using the rib design of a ship’s hull as inspiration, we developed modular trade-fair display units that can be shaped and expanded to suit the particular shape and size of the stand area. In addition to the fair displays and lights, Martin developed the Inspirit catalogue and logo.
